DOE AT Document

I have been going through the DOE AT Supporting Student Success document with a 'fine tooth comb' - I guess that's what being on an educational leave permits me to do, and all I can say is, wow! It's a fantastic document that crossed my desk in the past but too quickly was passed along. I am going to put together a powerpoint to share this information and more about AT with my colleagues, as in many cases, it passed by them too quickly as well. They are getting anxious listening to me go on so much about this world of AT and all the possibilities that are unfolding in front of me. I can't wait to share! Pam

  1. Hi Pam,
The DOE document on AT also crossed my desk at one time, but very quickly it was put into the "I'll get to that later" pile, and needless to say, these piles often get ignored. I think that putting together a powerpoint, with concise and clear points, would be much better way to get the information across to your collegues. As you know, there is little time in the day to sit and read things in detail. I'm sure you will peak some interest among your staff as to what is available to them, and perhaps they can take the lead on bringing more, effective AT into your school.

  2. Pam,
Fabulous Blog! I am finding the DOE Doc a bit daunting for right now- Maybe over Christmas...
Getting people excited about AT is a challenge- It's all about time, introducing elements in small bits and keeping it relevant to what teachers and TA's are doing so they can practice right away. But we're up for it!

  3. Great PowerPoint! It's great to see how excited you are, and its exciting to think about how not only your own school will benefit, but those of many of your colleagues. An awesome idea for your final project!

  5. Pam,

I enjoyed your presentaton today. I think it is important for administrators to be aware of the importance of AT. Unfortunately, like most things if those who are at the top do not believe in something than it does not become a priority. Thanks for paving the way for others.
